Who is behind the control mark?

The criteria for "Vegan BDIH" and the control mark are an initiative of the BDIH. The BDIH (Federation of Manufacturers and Distributors for Medicinal Products, Health Products, Food Supplements and Cosmetic Products, registered association) is an association founded in 1951, to which at present approx. 480 manufacturers and distributors from a multiplicity of countries belong.
The BDIH acts across market sectors and was the first private organization in the world that has created a standard and a company-independent control system for "controlled natural cosmetics" in the 1990s.

The label’s huge success resulted in it being awarded already for thousands of products worldwide, and means that it is established as reliable mark of recognition for natural cosmetics.
The BDIH is also a founding member of the COSMOS-standard AISBL and has thus contributed to the creation of the world's only control system for natural and organic cosmetics, which combines existing standards into a harmonized standard with also harmonized control.

The BDIH acts in the interest of its members and distributes profits to nobody. This means that income is used exclusively for the performance of the association's tasks, which also applies to earnings of IONC GmbH, in which no one other than the BDIH is involved. Every business active in the association’s sector may be member of BDIH. The federation is governed by its board and management, elected by the members. The supreme organ of the association is the Members‘ Assembly of BDIH.
